![]() Swami Haridas, it is said, realised God through ‘naad brahma sadhna’- meditation in music, initiated and perfected ragas. Bringing together the connoisseurs of music and dance, the event is marked with devotional grandeur that attracts thousands of people towards it, each year. Showcasing stalwarts like Sonal Mansingh, the Gundecha Brothers, Rakesh Chaurasia, the Nizami brothers and many more, the festival has been making earnest endeavours to preserve and propagate Indian Classical music. The two-day festival that concluded recently, boasts of a legacy of 150-years, and like every year, it saw a mix of veterans and upcoming performers. The streets bristle with activity as patrons of art and culture, students, scholars, literary figures, expats, journalists - all flock to partake in one of India’s oldest music and dance festivals - ‘Swami Haridas Sangeet Evam Nritya Mahotsav’. Since she was so smart to sign the films from day one, and in 2015, Surbhi Puranik made her debut in Tollywood through the Kanmani that she wrote and even directed Beeruva Telugu film as Swathi opposite Sundeep Kishan. In the same year after enjoying the film Ivan Veramathiri’s success she signed the other Tamil language comedy-drama film Velaiyilla Pattathari which was written as well as directed by the Velraj and superstar Rajnikant's son-in - law Dhanush produced the film starring Dhanush and Amala Paul were at the film's lead. This newcomer earned both the Vijay Awards for Best Debut Actress and the SIIMA award for Best Female Debutant for this feature.
